IMMIGRATION LAWYER

TORONTO, ONTARIO

We are currently seeking an experienced Immigration Lawyer for an exciting opportunity with a well-established full-service law firm in Toronto.

This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer looking to join a supportive and collegial environment while working on a wide range of immigration matters for both individual and corporate clients.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Managing a broad range of immigration matters, including:

    • Temporary Resident applications (visitor visas, work permits, study permits)

    • Permanent Residence applications

    • Family sponsorships

    • Status extensions and restorations

    • Corporate immigration matters

  • Advising individuals and corporate clients on Canadian immigration strategies and compliance matters

  • Preparing, reviewing, and overseeing immigration applications and supporting documentation for submission to IRCC, ESDC, and other government departments

  • Drafting legal submissions, correspondence, and client communications

  • Conducting legal research and staying current on developments in immigration law and policy

  • Managing application timelines, deadlines, biometrics, medical requests, and decisions

  • Representing clients before administrative tribunals and government bodies where required

  • Collaborating with colleagues across practice areas to support client needs

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience practicing immigration law in Canada

  • Strong understanding of Canadian immigration processes and procedures, including IRCC application requirements and timelines

  • Experience with LMIA applications and employer compliance requirements

  • Experience navigating various IRCC portals

  • Experience handling corporate immigration matters, including work permits under the International Mobility Program

  • U.S. immigration experience is considered an asset

  • Excellent written and verbal advocacy skills

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to independently manage a busy practice while working collaboratively within a team environment

  • A partial or full portable book of business is preferred

  • Business development experience or an interest in growing a practice is considered an asset
